The story behind “Always wear red”:

My grandmother was a true entrepreneur (and feminist) and set up our family business with my grandfather. My grandmother loved beautiful clothes and liked to dress eye-catching. She thought it was fun to wear pretty clothes, but also had the guts to be one of the first to wear a red mini dress. She didn’t care what others thought about it. My grandmother was a member of several networks of entrepreneurs in Arnhem, where she was always the only woman. At one point, my grandmother was at one of those networking meetings when Petra walked in. Petra had taken over her father’s business and had bought a chic grey suit especially for the event.

My grandmother saw Petra entering and walked right up to her. She welcomed Petra and said she was happy that another female entrepreneur was finally joining the network, but immediately added: “That grey suit, you must never put it on again. Look around you, all those men are already wearing grey. We women have to make sure we stand out, so we wear red!”
